INODEV Founder CEO Issam Oueslati and the Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra UC João Nuno Calvão da Silva concluded with an agreement to seal a Memorandum of Understanding between the parties to foster the new cooperation.
Founded in 1290, the University of Coimbra has a unique tangible and intangible heritage, keystone in the scientific culture of Europe and the World. It is one of the oldest universities in the world with the world’s most beautiful libraries, making it a UNESCO World Heritage. Built in the grounds of a Royal Palace the University spread throughout the city of Coimbra, while modifying its landscape and making of it the University City. To study at the University of Coimbra is to pursue the intellectual history of the country in the school that graduated some of the most distinguished personalities of national culture, science and politics. UC emphasizes tradition alongside modernity and innovation, participates in joint programs with some of the best universities in the world: Erasmus Mundus, MIT Portugal, CMU Portugal, Harvard Medical School Portugal and UT Austin Portugal are examples of such excellent partnerships to name just a few, placing it among the world leading universities with 5 stars QS university rating. UC is Portugal’s most international university, is the best university in Europe for sports, and is home of the largest and the oldest student union in the world and the most famous and biggest student festivity in Europe. The university is home of the largest science faculty in the country with more financing of the Horizon 2020 program, and is the architect of one of the world’s best science-based incubators and the first biotechnological park in Portugal.
Upon identification of the commonality of interests with a view to training high-level researchers and practitioners with the skills and knowledge necessary to solve today’s global/regional/local environmental problems, INODEV and UC intend to cooperate in realizing their expectation for accelerating students into the future, empowering high-end creative professionals and improving the employability of meritorious Tunisian students and graduates. Both parties intend fostering international experience and technical skills training through internship programs and joint research activities, which aims to be a source of cultural enrichment for trainees and will promote the visibility of both parties in respective territories.
